Worst Movie Monsters Ever
There have been some truly appalling movie monsters over the years. Sometimes the idea itself is just too ridiculous and sometimes it is the execution that provokes hilarity. Here is a list of the some of the worst movie monsters ever, with video clips.
The Ape Man
This is cringingly embarrassing stuff from 1943 but Bela Lugosi never was all that picky about roles. In this film he is extra hairy and does his best to act like a gorilla after an experiment gone wrong. His animal nature begins to take over and with the help of his gorilla pal they wreak havoc on the locals.
Robot Monster
This came out in 1953 and featured one of the strangest monsters ever. They obviously lacked the budget for a new costume so they stuck a space helmet on a guy in a gorilla suit and sent him into action.
The Creeping Terror
Released in 1964 this was a truly terrible film but it does have unintentional comic value. It also features an unbelievably bad monster. Don’t take my word for it just watch the clip, this has to be the worst looking monster ever to appear in a film.
Q: The Winged Serpent
This is super cheesy stuff featuring a sleepwalking David Carradine and a big reptilian bird creature that swoops down from the sky and eats unsuspecting New Yorkers.
Hobgoblins
This was a horribly bad rip off of Gremlins with super cheap creatures and some appalling acting and effects.
Loch Ness Terror
A bunch of idiots steal an egg belonging to the Loch Ness monster and then act surprised when she starts to eat them all. This is a budget sci-fi channel production with some really daft CG sequences.
Minotaur
At a minimum you’d think this movie would have an actual Minotaur in it but the makers seem to be confused about what a Minotaur is and so we get some terrible CG sequences featuring what looks like a gigantic zombie bull. Oh yeah Rutger Hauer and the Candyman are in this one but don’t let that tempt you because it really sucks.
Flu Bird Horror
Classic cash in behaviour from the sci-fi channel. This is about killer mutant birds but they obviously thought tagging on the word flu would tie into our fear over bird flu. It doesn’t. This film is utterly dire.
