Sam and Dean Winchester fans (or as some call us, obsessed fan girls), take heart: the beautiful beast-beating brothers will be around for another season! The CW has confirmed that Supernatural will be around for a seventh season.
What happens in season seven, of course, greatly depends on what the season finale on May 20 has in store. I’m in complete withdrawal, of course; my husband and I have been watching each season as a whole in order, so we missed most of season six. We’ve been able to watch two episodes via Amazon, but we’ve been too short on funds to be able to afford to watch the rest as of yet. But we will definitely be caught up by the start of season seven in the fall.
I’ve heard about Sam not having a soul this season, which makes me a little irked. Haven’t we had enough of Sam the Baddie? Can we never go back to the sweet, sort of nerdy guy he was during the first three seasons—when he loved to research and was loathe to kill unless he had do? Dean the Homemaker isn’t my cup of tea, either, even though I love that he’s had a chance at happiness.
I do hope the monster-killing continues well into season seven, however. I grew so sick of angels and demons throughout the past two seasons—though I hear that’s still a plot throughout six—and I’d love to see more of the old episodes, where the brothers battled mythical creatures and various beasts, all with different ways to be killed and all with awesome urban legends or lore attached to them. It was what drew me to the show, after all, since most of today’s gorefest films circle around the same few plots, completely ignoring the vast volumes of supernatural history every culture of the world seems to have. (That’s another reason why I’m so excited about American Gods coming to the screen.)
I wonder if Lisa and her son Ben are going to make it through this season; after all, Sam lost everyone he loved through the job, so it’s a very strong possibility that Dean could, too. (Of course, Sam was a much bigger target.) I don’t want anyone giving me any season six spoilers, but if you had to make an educated guess after watching the current season, would you guess that the next season would be more ghoulie and ghostie fighting rather than the whole angels versus demons stuff?
One thing is for sure: we can expect another cliffhanger as the final episode, and we’re sure to have some major secrets revealed. I’m just hoping that we don’t find out something really horrible about the year Sam spent without Dean, as some people have been hinting at. Of course, that probably means we will; I saw the first scene of episode three of season 6 on YouTube and could only think, “Yeah, that’s not Sam.”
As far as anything else, well, it’s probably too soon to tell.
And if anyone hears anything about Jared Padalecki needing an aid or errand girl on the set, of course, let me know about that, too.
